Happy 4th Everyone!

What a beautiful day it is to celebrate the 4th. I hope all of you are enjoying the day with your friends and families. We are going to Jason's Aunt and Uncles house as we do every year. We have a cook out then lay a quilt out on their front lawn and watch the towns big fire work show. We don't do our own because exploding things and my kids don't mix well.

I have been very busy over at Serendipity Scrapbooks hosting the Last Serendipity Scrapper Standing. It has been so much fun and the ladies in the challenge have blown me away with their scrapping skills. This is one reason among many that I have not been able to post this months Serendipity Alter Kit. This Kit is so girly and it was perfect for me since I have mostly girls in my family. I created the Mini album for my niece Jessica because it was just to perfect for her. The title through out the album says,"Don't hate me because I am Beautiful" and if you know Jessica this fits her to a "T".
You have to admit that the Boa and that big Butterfly are just adorable. Even my cat Gypsy likes the boa, I had to keep chasing her down to get it away from her.
I also created 2 Layouts, 2 cards and a small gift bag. Here are the layouts and the bag, I will share the cards later.
This Layout is of my little sister when she did Dance. The paper was just perfect for these pictures. The swirl below the pictures is a transparency that came in the kit. I covered it with Tim Holtz Crackle Paint and then added Diamond glaze. This is now one of my favorite Techniques. I did a picture frame this way also, and I will share that later also.

Thanks for stopping by and please have a safe and fun 4th.

Serendipity May Kit Peek!

Before I give you a little peek I want to thank everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers you have said for my mother and me. I have always said scrappers are the kindest people I have ever met and you all proved it once again. My mother is feeling better and has made a really fast recovery so far. Yesterday when I was up there with her its the most I have seen her smile in a long time. Hopefully she will get to come home in the morning.

Now for the peeks. I designed with the "May Just Enough Kit" and trust me there is plenty in this kit to play for awhile! Kristen has just packed these kits full of yummy-ness. The peeks just give you a taste of whats really in the kit. So enjoy and when you are done head over to Serendipity to get yours ordered before they ship! I am sure these will not last long.

I hope you like these very small but yummy peeks. I will share the full pictures and other creations on the first so make sure to stop back by to see it all. Have a great day!

Life Changing

I know its been a long time since I updated but there has been a lot going on. My mother was recently diagnosed with Larynx, lymph nod and lung cancer. 3 weeks ago they doctors went in to take her right lymph nod and to biopsy other areas of the throat and mouth to find the primary site. They did a quick freeze of the larynx while they were in surgery and it came back negative. Now the quick freeze is not 100% but we were feeling luck and thought maybe this was just left over from last time. Then on the Saturday before Easter we got a call that the biopsy of the larynx was positive and the whole thing had to be removed, This included the voice box. Of course this was a big smack in the face and totally devastated my mother and all of us. Her surgery was scheduled for the 21st, so Me and the kids spent every moment with her that we could before the surgery.

My mother under went an 8 hour major surgery on the 21st. I have spent almost everyday up at Vanderbilt with her since the surgery. Today is the first day I have had time to post and update.

She is recovering well but it still a long hard process. She is a little depressed but as long as we stay with her and keep her smiling she is okay. The worse for me is the fact that I will never hear my mothers voice again. Yes, I am very blessed and lucky to still have my mother but to never hear her laugh or hear her say I love you again is really hard. Even before we are born its our mothers voice that sooths us and just hearing it makes everything okay.

I know we will get through this. Whats that saying? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Well I have to hope that's true.

Thank you so much for stopping by and please take a moment today to tell the people in your life that you love them. Trust me they can never hear it enough!

Today is Autsim Awareness Day!

As many of you know my son Will has Autism and if you know me at all you know Will is my light in this world. He is a huge joy to anyone and everyone that knows him! I could not imagine my life with out this little boy and because of him I am such a better mother!

So since today is a day to help others become more aware of Autism, I wanted to share some statistics with you.

It effects
1 in 150 children
4:1 ratio of boys to girls
1 in 98 boys
Fastest growing developmental disability
100 billion annual costs In ten years the annual costs are projected at 200-400 billion.
Cost of lifelong care can be reduced by 2/3 Rd's with early intervention
A family with a child with autism will fund 3 to 5 million dollars of services throughout the lifetime of the child.
More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than cancer, diabetes, Downs Syndrome and AIDS combined.
Autism receives less than 5% of the research funding of most of the more prevalent childhood disorders.
Approximately 1 million individuals in the US have autism

Incidence vs. Private Funding (2007)
-Condition - Incidence - Private Funding
*Pediatric AIDS -1 in 8,000- 394 Million
*Leukemia- 1 in 25,000 -310 Million
*Muscular Dystrophy- 1 in 20,000- 175 Million
*Juvenile Diabetes- 1 in 500- 130 Million
* Autism -1 in 150- 42 Million

These odds still blow my mind! And I Promise you if Autism has not touched your life it has touched someone that you love life. There is no known cause or cure for Autism but it can be reversed in some cases. Now these cases you see on TV most of them can afford the best and get the best but us normal everyday people can not afford 12-18 hrs of therapy at 100.00 an hr and no insurance does not pay well for Autism. There are also the cases you see where the mom spends all her time with her child and does the therapy herself but again most people have other kids and a lot have more than one with autism.

So that is just some info I wanted to share. Have a great day and hug someone with Autism today!!!!

Happy April Fools Day!

I hope you are having a great April fools days! Have you played any jokes? I did on my baby sister but that's all the jokes for me today. I would love to have played one on my husband but he is so hard to play jokes on and I am such a bad liar that it will never happen.

Its the first of the month so as always I have some really pretty eye candy for you! This month I worked on the Altered Serendipity kit! I love these colors! I love the mini album! I love this kit! I worked very hard on this album. I made it for my sister who has a birthday coming up. The album doesn't really have a title but through the album it says " I have watched you grow into a Beautiful Women!" I also did 2 layouts and a card.

I hope you like it all and Thank you for stopping by!

Quiet Weekend....

What a quiet weekend I had. Sydney and Jason went to his sisters wedding while I stayed at home with Will since he was still not feeling great. They said the wedding was beautiful and the reception afterwards was pretty cool. Sydney danced with everyone there and had a ball. I really missed them both so much while they were gone. Here is a couple pictures Jason took with his phone. Now notice Sydney's hair! Her daddy did a wonderful job on it! I was so surprised. Also don't you think I am a lucky women with a handsome husband like that? With Sydney gone this house was so quiet and I had a lot of time to scrap. I managed to get 6 layouts done with the help of a little on line crop I found at Life Preservers club. This was a great crop and I met a lot of great people. I had so much fun! Check out a couple things I did. I will share others with you later on this week.
Well thats all I have for you right now! Thanks so much for stopping by.
